Woman in a box

I stared down at her
Her derma was once smooth
Without blemish
Now it had the mark of age

With a stroke, I shut her eyes
They once lit up, once vibrant
Now they told tales of the past

My tears dropped on her lips
They exuded power when she spoke
Pure pansophy
Now they were sealed with the stamp of cessation

I remembered all of her ideas
Her mind was a kingdom of possibilities
A home of visions
Now its city had been raided by time
Trapped in its household, never to see the light

All she was made of was
Her essence
Reduced to this cold emptiness

She was ancient,  she was old
Now she was just a woman in a box
Soon to be swallowed up by the greedy earth
